meet  DR. D

Dentistry is more than about teeth for Dr. Dawn Diehnelt. It’s a blend of her passions for science and caring for people.  Over a decade ago Dr. D., as she is affectionately called, took a decisive turn professionally towards focusing on growing beautiful faces on healthy bodies using an integrative whole health approach.
It was Dr D’s father suffering from sleep apnea both physically and mentally, and his eventual death from it, which propelled Dr. D into action. She took courses (including with Dr. John Mew, founder of orthotropics), attended conferences, and consulted with experts in the field. Driven by love and compassion, she was determined to craft a solution to help others.  This journey has transformed her.
”Let’s cure the problem at the source—by addressing anatomy and breathing, we can improve overall health.”

HER Philosophy

Dr. D’s philosophy is all about seeing dental care from a broader perspective. It’s not just about brushing and flossing; it’s about understanding how your oral health connects to your overall well-being. It’s believing in the body’s power to heal, and guiding it so it does.
By looking at the bigger picture and considering how everything’s connected, Dr. D creates a welcoming and relaxed space where you can work towards a healthier, happier you, inside and out.
“The cranium is in constant flow; we need treatments that support this natural movement. Trusting the body’s ability to heal is at the core of my treatment philosophy.”

her BACKGROUND

With over two decades of experience as a family dentist, Dr. D is deeply committed to lifelong learning. She holds a DDS from the University of Washington and has pursued additional studies at prestigious institutions such as American University, Ritsumeikan University, University of Osaka School of Dentistry,  and the University of Oklahoma.
“Everything’s so connected. You’re not going to have good mental health if you don’t have good physical health and vice versa.”

COMMUNITY Connection

Outside of her practice, she is a member of the Schaumburg Scribes author’s group.  She actively supports initiatives such as Start School Later and annually does the Halloween Candy Buy Back to send candy to the troops through Packages4Patriots. She is a member of the Weston A Price Foundation which disseminates research information about nutrition pioneer W.A Price.
Dr. D. has just published her first children’s book, which explains the causes of crooked teeth in a hilarious, entertaining way.  Read about eight year old Alex in My Jeans?, and you may be surprised, too.  Dr. Diehnelt also has numerous professional dental research publications, one in Japanese.
